Randall B. Peterson is chief transition officer of Mobile Gas, an Alabama natural gas distribution utility acquired by Sempra Energy in October 2008. Sempra Energy is a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services. The Sempra Energy companies' 13,500 employees serve more than 29 million consumers worldwide.
In his current position, Peterson will manage the integration of Mobile Gas into Sempra Pipelines & Storage.
In addition to operating Mobile Gas, Sempra Pipelines & Storage and its affiliates operate and/or own more than 1,200 miles of pipelines and are developing an additional 800 miles to help meet North America’s growing energy demand.
From 2004 to 2008, Peterson served as chief compliance officer for Sempra Energy where he directed the company’s ethics and compliance programs, including its business conduct standards for employees and suppliers.
Previously, Peterson was vice president of human capital services, overseeing payroll, human resource information technology, and executive and employee development.
Before that, he was director of audit services for Sempra Energy from 1998 to 2001, and at Pacific Enterprises, the parent company of Southern California Gas Co., a job he held from 1995 to 1998. Since joining Pacific Enterprises in 1984, Peterson has held a range of jobs of increasing responsibility in finance, accounting and auditing.
Prior to joining Sempra Energy, Peterson was an audit manager with a predecessor to the accounting firm Ernst & Young. He holds a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University, where he currently serves on the advisory board to the School of Accounting.
Peterson also devotes his energies in support of a number of youth sports and performing-arts events in the community
