Erbin B. Keith

Erbin B. Keith is vice president of regulatory affairs and chief compliance officer for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services.    The Sempra Energy companies’ 13,800 employees serve more than 24 million consumers worldwide.

In this role, Keith is responsible for managing regulatory affairs and compliance programs for the company.   
Previously, Keith was president of Sempra Energy Solutions, a Sempra Energy business unit offering retail gas and electricity, risk management and outsourcing services to commercial and industrial businesses.   

Before joining Sempra in 1998, Keith was a senior vice president and general counsel for the Way Companies, and, prior to that, served as an attorney in private practice in Texas.    Beyond his legal and regulatory experience in the energy, engineering and construction industries, Keith worked as a consulting engineer.

Keith is a licensed professional engineer and a member of the Texas and California state bars.

Keith was selected as "Energy Professional of the Year" in 2001 by the Association of Energy Engineers, and was appointed to the Department of Energy’s first Federal Energy Management Advisory Committee.   

Keith holds a law degree from South Texas College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas.
