Steven D. Davis is vice president of Communications & Community Partnerships for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services. The Sempra Energy companies’ 13,500 employees serve more than 29 million consumers worldwide.
As vice president of Communications & Community Partnerships, Davis oversees Sempra Energy’s community relations activities, as well as the company’s public relations, employee communications, corporate branding and advertising. In addition, Davis is president of the Sempra Energy Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization that supports sustainable, measurable community-based change in places where Sempra Energy does business.
Prior to this job, Davis was senior vice president of External Relations and chief financial officer (CFO) for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG &E) and Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas), Sempra Energy’s California regulated utilities.
Davis was named CFO for SDG &E and SoCalGas in 2004, and was responsible for the accounting, financial and budget functions. Also, in his role as senior vice president of External Relations, Davis was responsible for external relations aspects, including the legislative analysis, communications, community relations and public affairs activities for SDG &E and SoCalGas.
Before that, Davis served as senior vice president of Customer Service & External Relations for SDG &E and SoCalGas and vice president of Distribution Operations for SDG&E. Other executive assignments have included division manager of Customer Operations and division manager of Governmental & Administrative Services.
Davis serves on the boards of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and
The Campanile Foundation. He is also on the advisory boards of San Diego Senior
Community Centers and the San Diego Burn Institute.
Davis has a bachelor’s degree in business administration (accounting) from
San Diego State University, where he graduated with honors.
